Yeh, I saw that one too - it joins the Firetone, Jetone, Burgundytone...perhaps color for 2005? Image
...We know he meant Mapleglo...
Also, there are those refering to Fireglo as sunburst. As long as you understand which color they are talking about - no problem with such terminology slips.

I saw a band once called "The Fleshtones!"

The Fleshtones were great. I was friendly with some of the members in the late 70's early 80's. They're actually still around.

What's the general consensus on '73 necks, gentlemen?

'73 thru '79 4001 necks ... excellent ... as long as you don't get a dufass tech improperly adjusting the truss rods ...

I have a '73 4001 MG and the neck on it is wonderful, albeit missing the full-width inlay, but otherwise a joy to play.

Nice thin neck.
You can actually bend it while playing.
Schould be a fantastic bass this one.
If I'd have the cash it'd be mine.

Beautiful. A September 1973 4001. Its neck should be identical to those on my April and my June 1974 4001s, i.e. great.

A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I had a 75 with the early 70's neck profile, much flatter and thinner than the later 70's necks, I prefer the later ones myself. Same width, but more rounded
