Neck Finish

Post by upstairsdave »

Does anyone know what Rickenbacker uses for the finish of their fret boards. My fingerboard is worn under the fourth string and I would like to fix it. Where can I buy the product?

There's a thread here somewhere about it. I think it's in the Vibrola section.

The finish is called conversion varnish. It's expensive and you need stainless spray equipment to spray it since it's very acidic. For a touchup like that, use CA - or Cyanoacrylate, otherwise known as superglue. Get the good stuff for model airplanes at a hobby shop.
