Crosbys hat circa 67

Not exactly music related but does anyone know what kind of hat David Crosby is wearing on the Younger than yesterday album cover? Looks kinda cool don't you think?

Hi Robert,

If you want an almost exact replica, check out this site here:

http://www.ushist.com/wardrobe.htm

You are looking for the John Bull model in navy blue with a navy band. Believe me, the hat is very well made. It's only marginally taller than David's original, which I believe was made by the Italian company Borsalino. Borsalino does not seem to have an identical model in its current range:

You meet an unusual kind of expert on the internet sometimes, don't you!

Interesting that by the time this LP came out around mid '67, Croz was already wearing his Russian cossack/fur hat.

I remember earlier than that, 16 Magazine made a fuss over the fact that he could be seen zipping down Sunset Bl. on his motorcycle wearing a cape! An oddity for it's time, no doubt.

I've seen footage from Monterey where he is wearing the Borsalino hat(thanks Mark)with the Buffalo Springfield, then the Cossack hat with the Byrds...what a hat lover!

Corbis has a fine selection of photos of David's hats. Just search for David Crosby or Byrds here:

http://pro.corbis.com

Note that by 1968 and his meeting with Eric Clapton in Cass Elliott's backyard, the Borsalino (if it's the same one from '66) has gained a ring of wishbones and beads round it.

If you continue searching, you should find two pictures from 1988 of David wearing his green suede cape to a 60s' party.

While we're all looking on Corbis, what's the bass amp that Chris Hillman is using at the Magic Mountain Music Festival of June 3 1967 and the Monterey Pop Festival of June 17 1967?
