"The Tone"

Post by ted_williams »

I just couldn't resist sharing this. Over the weekend I played a show using some sound guys I had never worked with before, and they were knocked out by the tone of my 620/12. One of them said, "Don't you EVER sell that guitar." The other said, "I couldn't get your strat player's sound right, but I didn't have to do anything to your Ric." I told them the tone is built-in.

like many Rick people I've had the same experience. I have a 335 (from 1966)that I've used live and in the studio numerous times w/ the same reaction; people have called to use this guitar in the studio because it records so well- we've even DI'ed it clean into the board!
My 4003S bass in a studio sometimes gets the "uh-oh, it's not a Fender" look, but ALWAYS wins them over. Again, an instrument that records very well. Can't wait to try my new CS4001 this weekend!
