Hi, Anyone knows about correct size of the original hardshell case for 58 325 model?
Is it same size as 50's Combo 400?

Manabu, Unfortunately my 325 is still in safe storage. I will measure the case the next time I have it in hand and will post it here. In the meantime, maybe JWilli, Larry W or others can help.

Hello Manabu, great to see you here. I've sent you photos of my '58 Rickenbacker 325 case and yes it is the same case used for the Combo 400 guitars. I've owned four '59 310-315 guitars over the years and they've all had this longer case. JWilli has the same longer case with that cool '59 315 he bought recently. I've got photos of my guitar in the original case but don't know how to post them here. If anyone is interested and knows how to post them here I'll send them to you. Thanks.

Yep, if the guitar is seated 'properly' in the case there is a good 3-4 inches of air between the end of the body and the case itself.

Larry, If you want to send the pics over I'll be glad to post them for you. I have bubblewrap at the base of my case to keep the 325 from sliding around inside it! Ron

I may have told a fish story, it's more like two inches..LOL

I've seen those cases with a variety of different handles; the one on Larry's case looks like it has held up well over the years. Every time I see pics of Larry's 325 I can't get over how thick the top is, you can really see it in that bottom pic. The 325s that have f-holes are also much louder acoustically than ones with solid tops...

Manabu, Here are the pictures I promised. Note the bubblewrap to help hold the guitar in place while in the case! Inside measurements are approx. 38" X 13 1/4". Hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for all about information about original hardshell caser for '58 325.
I agree '58-'59 made 310-325 models had same case
as Combo 400 guitars and they are quite longer size for 325. My '60 315FG has just fit size of
silver case with red color lining. so that I think Rickenbacker produced just fit sized shorter size case for 310-325 seriese from 1960.
How do you think?

Manabu,
I believe you are right about the cases being more form fit after '59,(my '66 325 has the shorter case) but there are many here who have much more expertise to tell you for sure. Hopefully they will chime in.

Manabu, I've had four '59 310-315 guitars over the years and they all had this longer case. The 1960 325 which I owned for a short period didn't have an original case so I can't say on that one but if yours has the shorter case it is likely they came with short cases by the year 1960. I've had quite a few 60's 325's and all those had the longer cases except one. The one that had the short case was a '64 which I believe was an export model 1996. Could somebody else with a '64 model 1996 report which case you have? Thanks.
