I have always assumed the workers at Rickenbacker signed their work for QC purposes.

Maybe Ted can make you a paperweight with checker binding!

Hey, that could be a forum membership paperweight, what do you think Ted?

Do I get the second one, as you would obviously get the first?

Gee, should I get mine in JG? How about BG? It is going to be hard to decide on a finish!

Checkerboard binding is a precious commodity but if I can find a reliable supply this could be done. Maybe I could take a contour from part of a bass, say the lower horn. Just enough to get the point across but hopefully not enough to rouse the ire of ricklegal@. Bind them and put some kind of finish down. If the shape is a trademark issue then some other non infringing shape would have to do. I would be willing to try.
