Need Help With Model 4004CII

Post by frank_rodio »

MARK, I have a 2000 4004CII lefty bass. I can not get any relief out of the neck, even when I loosen the rods to a light tension. When I hold down the first and last fret I get less than .010 relief when the bass in a flat or playing position. I have to keep the string height at an uncomfortbly high position. I own 3 other rick basses with the old and new truss rods and I have no trouble setting them up. I have been playing for 20 years and I guess I'm in denial about something wrong with a new rick bass. I called customer service but i was treated very rude and brushed aside(John Hall are you listening?) Could you please help?

The Rickenbacker Thought Police are on their way to your door. Frank you must be confused, Rickenbacker has the #1 customer service department in the business, just listen to JH, he'll tell you so. And to all the Rickenbacker zombies who bow to Santa Ana every morning, just wait until YOU have a problem.

Sounds like someone there believes in the left coast attitude to me...Don't you know they set the cultural and general courtesy standards...

Frank: Let's hope that Mark is able to offer you a suggestion soon on the setup for this bass. Mark?

We do not like to use the message board as a customer service tool, but as the manager of customer service at Rickenbacker, I want to strive to take care of all customers in a fast and friendly way. I have personally e-mailed Frank in hopes of solving his problem and would encourage any others with problems to e-mail me directly at [email protected].

What kind of strings and what gauge are they on your bass?

I hope that Tommy can give you the information that you need .

If you want a second opinion ,I'll be glad to answer any questions .....he is correct though ,you need to speak to him and see what can be done .

With the crew that works for me ,I strive to make it clear that everyone is important .We all have our moments and sometimes forget that the last problem has nothing to do with the next task/person that you deal with.

In playing baseball (and being a pitcher) I had to get over what had happened to the last player encounter and get on to the next .A good player can do that .Some times you don't ....but if it is a chronic problem you get replaced .

Rick does have a great service policy.See what they can do for you .

This Forum and I are here as an extensional info center .Some times a different point of view really helps .I get to see how other companies solve there troubles and sometimes that works for all brands .Diversity is the spice of life.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!

I had a similar problem with my 330 a couple of years ago. I could not get relief on the neck and the truss rod nuts were all the way loose. I spoke with RIC and they told me to send it in. I did and they fixed it. No problem and I do not bow to Santa Ana every morning.

thanks everyone for your support, i did not mean to let my emotions take over but when i talked to the person on the phone i felt i was in first grade and being scolded (i spelllike a first grader) i used the proper terminology when i spoke to tis person and told him i was calling from upstate ny therefore maybe i could get some advice from a tech so i could try to fix this my self.
i have recieved info from TOM from service and will give it a shot ,if it does not work maybe MARK could help. no matter what i still loves my RICK basses. thanks as always,
