For Sheena
Sheena the current version of "Winds"is sung by Frank. At least at the live venues. He does a really good job of it. Like most groups the Searchers tend to rely on a lead singer/singers and sometimes it is quite a surprise to hear someone else sing lead on a particular song. They often do a better job than the usual leads. Over the years there have been some good songs performed by the others in the Searchers apart from Mike and Chris and later Spencer. Makes for an interesting mix and in Franks case can add some fun to the recording/live performance.
Pam/Sheena. When I've seen The Searchers performing "Four Strong Winds", John sings the first verse, Frank sings the second and they both sing on the chorus.
John sings a number of lead vocals these days, "Till I Met You", "Mr Tambourine Man" and of course "Seven Nights To Rock". Others he has done include "Tennessee Stud".

The Searchers are the best!
Pam, the version i have actually sounds a bit different, i mean, you can say Frank is a leadsinger because he sounds very loud but the first verse doesn't sound like it's him. I mean, he has a voice which can be identified unmistakably...
Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

Yeah Tim I think you might be right though I'd have said it was the other way round. Was a while ago and a lot has happened since. In fact the more I think about it the more I think you are right they did do a verse each and shared the chorus John first and then Frank. From what you say John is doing more and more singing leads these days. It would make for more variety in the shows. Wish they would come out here again. Thanks
As for the version of FSW on Take me for what I'm worth: I would have liked that three of them had taken one verse each (instead of Pender 2, Curtis 1). The policy then seems to have been more singing from each member. So I think a Frank verse (and/or even a John verse) would have been an advantage to the issued version.
What's the BBC version like, again? (vocally).

Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

Tim I have just made another check and the first show at Caloundra RSL is the closest to me. Will ring them and find out costs and if I can book straight away. I will still have to travel a fair way but at least not all the way to Brisbane. I can come back home after the show in about an hour instead of 2 to 3. Thanks again.
