Billy Adamson's Electronic Drums

Post by admin »

I believe that I hear electronic drums in some of the recordings that Billy Adamson made. Can anyone verify this? Did he use electronic drums on stage as well?

Never on stage (as far as I know), but electronic drums were used on the COCONUT recordings.

Tim: While you are on the subject of the COCONUT recordings are you able to provide some insight into these and why electronic drums were used.

The COCONUT recording session were fitted into gaps in The Searchers busy touring schedule back in the Autumn of '88. As far as I know, apart from John's guitar parts, mostly studio-based electronic instruments were used. "Somebody Told Me You Were Crying" was an exception as it's recording was privately financed by The Searchers a couple of years earlier and licenced to COCONUT for inclusion on "Hungry Hearts".
