Seeing as it's -19 Celcius here (about 0 Farenheit) does that mean that I should wait 48 hours to open the 4002 when it gets here on Thursday?

Especially since it's coming by courier and will have spent a couple of days in a truck!

Sounds like a good idea not to shock the wood. I might be inclined, if you have the option, to keep it for some hours in an enclosed garage that would maybe 20 degrees(10 C) warmer than the outside before even bringing it totally inside...don't want to take chances in the cold...no, no, no, no, no!

What kind of strings are on it Mike? I heard they were putting RW's on them now. I have a 4003 BB FL coming and told them to put Pyramids flats on it.

Bob Scott is going to try Pyramids on his new c64. I tried them on my v63 and didn't like them, but I suspect that's just my proclivity toward rounds. I'm sure Bob will let us know how they sound.

I've been using them for a couple of years along with other flats. I don't like the sound of RW's on fretless basses, besides the fact that they eat up the necks quickly. I have one Ric, a 78 Azureglo 4001 with Ric RW's on it, it sounds great when I play it, has that classic cutting Ric tone.

Very nice MB FL you got there, now you just have to vintage-ize it!

When I got my 4003fl last year , I replaced the roundwounds with Thomastik flats straight away for that lovely upright bass sound.

Congrats on the bass Michael.

As you know Montezuma Brown is finished now and there can't be many fretless ones around, so a nice one to have!

Michael, how is your FL? I'm curious because I have one on order also, I have a 72 4001 FL, had an early 80's 4001FL but haven't played one any newer than an 88 4003FL that had been modified. Dod it come stock with RW's? If so how do they play and sound? How's the neck compared to other 4003's? ETC. etc.
