Humbucker cover question

Post by loverickbass »

Is it possible for a humbucker to be fitted with a toaster top Chrome cover?

Just a comment; I think it would be cool if a high gain good be fitted with 2 chrome lines on either side of the pole pieces sorta' like a qusai-toaster top. I hope I explained that right.

Where would the metal have to be bent?

it's hard to explain without pictures ... the humbucker uses the same cover as the high gain ... the hb2 is raised about 1/16" or less where it fits into the top opening ... the toaster is flat accross the top ... you could make it work if you really wanted to ...

J.C.:
To answer your question regarding the humbucker, the answer is YES.

As for 'chrome lines' on a high-gain pickup, I think the current high-gain design lends itself quite nicely to such mod.

Explain to me the tone of the bucker compaired to the high gain. I had a 4004 bass a few years ago but for the life of me I can't remember what it really sounded like. I sold it after only having it for a few weeks. Now that I'm into a little guitar playing I wanted to experiment with the diff pickups that RIC has to offer.

All I'm sure of is, the humbucker is hotter and 'thicker'-sounding than the high-gain - I have no ideia what its tonal content is.
