Does It Hurt? Who wrote and sang it first?

Can anyone tell me who wrote "Does It Hurt" and who sang it first? Spencer James does a great job on this vocal from the Searchers 1st Live CD.

This song was written by one J Mitchell who I gather is a personnel friend of SJ.

He also wrote two numbers on SJ's album Tides Of Time plus a co-wrote with SJ, three other songs.

As far as I know no other artist has performed the song.

Can you tell me more about J. Mitchell? Has he written for other artists? Has he recorded with other groups?

Roy: I understand that it is indeed Joe Mitchell who wrote "Does It Hurt?" and that he recorded the song also. He is, apparently, a friend of Spencer James from Scotland. This song is certainly on my list to be included on a Searchers' studio CD.

For those who, like myself, have been looking for the lyrics to Does It Hurt. Here they are as I hear them from The Searchers' recording. Should anyone have Joe Mitchell's version, I would dearly love to hear it. Corrections expected and welcomed.
