Official RIC Website Temporarily Down

For those who are wondering, and haven't heard, the Official Rickenbacker Website is temporarily down while they are changing to a new service provider. There is no word when they will be up and operational again, however, it is anticipated soon. The site has not been operational today. Perhaps John Hall will comment on recent developments.

John Hall's comment on alt.guitar.rickenbacker on September 6, 2001 was: Quote:Unfortunately, our web site is STILL down, due to unspecified trouble at the
ISP's data center. Personally I'm beginning to wonder if their problem might
not be economic in nature but I see their site at
https://www.firstworld.com/index.shtml is still alive and our server is
still pingable. Anyway, I love where they say:

connection that keeps your site up and available. We've built reliability
into our network environments in our Internet Data Centers by offering the

They go on to say:

"These servers are housed in our state-of-the-art Internet Data Centers to
ensure a safe, controlled environment. They are maintained by our
engineering staff and monitored 24x7x365 by our Network Operations Center to
ensure that your Web site is always accessible."

I'll bet no one from their advertising staff has ever spoken to anyone on
their engineering staff . . .

In the meantime, there IS an alternate site available, but unlike the Sparc
Servers at our primary site, it's pretty slow. But you're welcome to use
http://www.rickenbacker.xohost.com for urgent reference as long as you understand the speed issue and that it's basically unmaintained.

None of this is related to a change in contents of the web site; it's just
hardware and/or routing changes.
