How to set up a bass

Post by markthemd »

First do all the checks in the "How to set up a Six string Rick with an R tailpiece.

The differance in a bass is tension and length of string .

Some players that I have done work for ....love guitar action (Stanley Clarke ) they want thee bass to be effortless to play .

Some players (Fly Brooks of Elvin Bishops band ) like to play hard and wants to work at it .Same with Joe Osborn of session fame .

Those guys are rare so I settle somewhere in between.

I set the strings about 2.5mm or .100 from the top of the fret at the end of the neck .This is from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret.

Don't go by the fretboard ...the top of the fret is the real place to measure from .You aren't pressing down to the fretboard anyway ...if you are lighten up !!!!!!!
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
