I started this conversation on Voxtalks and it doesnt seem to answer my question.
Hey all you beatles perfectionists. Do any of you know if it is all possible to get the
same sound john lennon got his 325 to sound in "This boy" i really want to know how.
How was it done? does anyone know? thanks clay
This Boy
Clay: You can replicate the sound of This Boy by using a good tube amplifier, Vox if you have it, and having the middle pickup disconnected on your 325. The pickup switch is in the middle position. I have my 350 wired so that I can turn off the middle pickup and when I do I can nail the This Boy rhythm, even with a Fender amplifier. The rhythm using D, Bm, Em and A chords is played on the first three strings. There may be other ways to do this. This is just my two cents.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
