Ricks You Own: 2000 Carl Wilson ltd.ed.360/6 fireglo~SN-0012862~cert#40

Comments: I just took delivery 3 days ago,I ordered it as soonas I heard they were being offered.I have always loved the look& sound of Ricks, but the necks were just so narrow,I read that this model was to have a much more long finger friendly string spacing,so I rolled the potato and came up a winner, this guitar plays so nice,it reminds me of my favorite old pair of sneakers...it just is so comfortable that I am now able to be a Ricky player,Hot Cha's!!!! For years I have been playing a Gibson 335 which is a great guitar, but to get the bright sounds I wanted I had to use a Strat. Neither really gave anything really close to Rick's signature tone, and being a Beatle& Byrds kinda guy it was always a little niggle in my mind not being able to find a Rickenbacker that I could play for extended periods of time, but the Carl Wilson 360 6string has kicked open the door to Ricky Tone Heaven. And the figuring & character of the maple on my fire glo finished 360 is just completely outstanding.I have seen tiger stripes before, but this one is just thick, wide, tight, and would put most tripleA tops to shame. The new scatter wound pickups are so musical, and the thinner top of the body just lets this guitar sing. I guess you can kinda tell I like this guitar somewhat...haha! All I can say is "THANKS SO MUCH,I finally have the Rickenbacker I'd always hoped for,and imagined..and that is where it's at!

Comments: Actually the Rick I own is still at the music shop on layaway until early May! I'm glad I ordered it, it's the 888th 4001CS. I make frequent visits to see it,it's beautimus maximus! Even the "new" smell of the instrument in the case is fantastic! Anyone unable to appreciate and love these beautiful instruments need their heads examined!

Comments: I love my rickies but I plan to buy a 660/12 for the wider neck! The standard neck of the 12 string is cramped for my fat fingers. I am also interested in buying a 380 Laguna PZ. There's no sound like the sound of a Ric!!!

Comments: Sorry, I initially called my 360 a V63, when in fact it is the V64 model. I have a friend in BC who can't find a Rickenbacker. He says the dealers there don't stock them because of the lack of humidity and cold. Interesting trivia, Brian Carmen, of RIC was a former member of The Chantays, "Pipeline" fame. I went to college with Bob Marshall, the keyboard player. Small world. A definite must is Jeffrey Foskett's book on Rickenbackers, for all you Rickheads out there. Gary in Santa Rosa, California

I've been fascinated with Rickenbackers ever since I was 16 and saw George Harrison play his 360 in "Hard Day's Night" Of course, back then I couldn't afford one. Any others out there who own a John Lennon Limited Editon 325? Best from Santa Rosa, California

Pleasantly surprised to find out that it is 13 years old (manufactured Jan. '87)! Only has 2 scratches. Nothing serious. Played it all nite at my gig Saturday night! This is a great site for a great instrument!

It has been modified, detrimentally and I would like to restore it. I'm looking for parts If someone can give me a source for machine heads pickups and such I would be appreciated. Comments: When I heard "Mr.Tambourine Man" in 65, that was about the end of my efforts playing surf music. I became a folk rock follower, and continue to this day to write music as well as play covers which reflect that musical love. I have been fortionate enough to have met Roger McGuinn on a number of occasions, and I find him to be one of the most gracious men I have ever met, and one top shelf player. I bought my Ric new in 1989.Roger Signed my RM370 during a gig in 96, and that makes it all the more special to me.

Ricks You Own: we don't have any but we can't wait to get them. We are looking at getting all of the band out fited with them. Some of us are looking at more then one.

Comments: this is going to sound weird, and I hope that it doesn't anger any one. But I didn't really know about rickenbackers till the end of 1999 when I saw a 360 FG on the wall at the music store. We got it down and played it, and I feel in love then and there. I took our lead guitarist in to the shop to test out a 12 string, I don't think he's ever going to play anything else, at least electricly. We are looking at getting these Ricks all in fire glo, 4003, 4003/S8, 381/6V69, 381/12V69, 325V59, and 5002V58. and if any one could get us information on where we could find these models we'd really like it. 4005WB, 6000, and 4005/6. Thank You - Ian Powell of Four O'Clock

How do they make them so good for so little money?! I need to get a string again for that twangy sound Beatles, Who, Jam - They are THE ones!

Comments: As I worked at 'Electo-String' from1972 to 1976 I had the great fortune to witness how to build these guitars. Although my own instuments are far from stock(the combo pickup has been replaced with variation that I made a long time ago) (the 12 string neck replaced by me after a car accident in '92 -I also widened the neck to 1 11/16" at the nut so that a human being with normal sized fingers could play the thing!)...I do have a fondness for them. I also could tell you a few funny things about the place but that's for another time and place.

I love Rickenbacker basses, especially the 4005, but since i have very little chance of ever owning one, then being able to see and read about so many is the next best thing. How come Rickenbacker stopped making them? Do you think they'll ever bring them out again? Anyway, thanks again for a truly magnificent site. All the best.
