8 Rickenbackers..................I reckon the other 42 don't really count.

Bwahaha, now I feel even better! Add Aitch's name to my earlier list of people. . .

Even as a gigging musician, I tend to use the same 2-3 guitars all the time.
I use Big Red as my main six string, with the Blue Boy as a backup, because those two have hotter bridge pickups, taller frets, and a Mastery bridge (it's addictive). Because they are similarly set up/equipped, if I need to switch from one guitar to the other due to string break or something like that, I can just set one down and pick the other up without adjusting my amp. My AZ blue WB also has a hotter bridge p/up and Accent, but no Mastery, and still has it's original old style, vantage-y frets, which work okay with its more radiused fretboard, but it's managed to catch a couple of beercans kicked about the stage by our lead vocalist (practicing his footballer moves), so I usually leave it home. Besides, I've never been that crazy about it's non-vintage-y headstock, and big Schaller tuners.

I almost always use the Ruby for my twelve string work, just because the case is slimmer than the 381's. The Vox Teardrop 12 stays home unless I'm doing a bunch of Echo and the Bunnymen 12 string stuff, because then I need a 12 strring with a whammy bar.

If I'm not using a Rick for six string work, I usually use my Gretsch Silver Jet, with my Duo Jet next in line. I like my TV Yellow LP Junior, but it doesn't have a whammy bar, and the guys in the band sometimes say "it's too loud." I may mount an Accent VB on the guitar, because it's completely reversible/needs no screw holes, and I'm used to an Accent. :D
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

Well, I'm down one, as I sold my Jazz bass yesterday. First time I ever sold a guitar.

I lost one to a theft (of sorts) years ago, and lost one to a fireplace (it was the best use for that "guitar"), but never sold one. I'm not expecting to make it a habit...kind of like using a guitar as firewood.

I hope you don't end up regretting selling that Jazz Ed, as I've done with pretty much every guitar I've ever sold. :(

There have been 27 instruments that I've owned:

BASSES:

6 Ricks (3x4001 (2 fretless), 4001V63, 4002, 4008)
2 Fenders (both Precisions, 1 fretless)
1 Gibson (Thunderbird 4)
1 Ned Steinberger Designs CR5 Omni 5 string fretless
1 Chapman Stick
2 John Birch custom (1 short scale)
1 Jaydee Supernatural fretless (serial number 0001)
2 Rod Button 6-string custom (1 fretless)
1 Rod Button fretless acoustic round-back bass
1 Ashbory bass
2 Tanglewood (1 fretless)
1 Antoria P-Bass copy

GUITARS:

I Fender Strat
1 Fender Tele
1 Antoria SG
1 Paul Reid Smith
1 Washburn Tour (just superb!)
1 Rod Button acoustic

FAVOURITES:

The 4008 - for sheer fun and inspiration!
The V63 - my "go-to" bass
The 4002 - phenomenal sound, great looker!
The T-bird - the classiest Gibson bass by some distance.
The Washburn Tour - a real journeyman guitar that would do anything I needed of it.

Of all the above, I still have all the Ricks except my first, bought in 1974, the NSD, the 2 Button basses, the Ashbory and the PRS. The rest have been moved on to other homes, as I said above, mostly with regrets....
