Re: Some Beatles Covers

Yeah, I gotta hand it to you Douglas, you really did do a fine job on all of those tracks. My personal favorite is "My Back Pages." I'd like to know what sort of software you used, mics, all that technical stuff.
I'd like to do a little home recording myself.

Thanks Jim!

Re: Scratch-X & Zymol

I've just discovered that Meguiar's Scratch-X DOES indeed contain SILICONE! I know the Scratch-X / Zymol treatment has been recommended here on this forum and even over at the Ric forum and I've used it on my Rics and even on the headstock of my Larrivee L05 thinking it was safe.

Re: Some Beatles Covers

Very nice! Many of them have a nice roadhouse "live" vibe to them. I think my favorite is "Ask Me Why" but I dig your version of "You Can't Do That" too.

Thanks David! I appreciate that comment since they were all recorded track by track in my office/studio! You must like the sound of the 325 ...

Re: Some Beatles Covers

"Ask Me Why" is one of my favorite early Beatle songs. Which Rick guitar am I hearing ? I would have definitely used a delay to create that strumming pattern on "All My Lovin'" - LOL ! Steve.

That is my '81 320JG you are hearing on "Ask Me Why".

I love the triplets in "All My Loving". In fact ...

Re: Some Beatles Covers

Sounds great as I work my way down the list! All sounds good except for those digi-drums! I hated them when I had to use them, and I continue my discrimination of such drums! hahahaha, the musicianship on your part is there, as well as a great ear for good tone!

is that 360 one with toasters or hi ...

Some Beatles Covers

Here are a few Beatles covers I've done with my Ric 320JG, 360/12FG and 4003FG bass. All the tracks, instrumental and vocal are me except for the drums which are MIDI.

All My Loving

Ask Me Why (my wife sings harmony)

I Call Your Name

I Feel Fine

I'll Cry Instead

If I Needed Someone ...

I replaced the nickle tuners with new Ric chromes ones, and the knobs with the classic style and added a Python strap:

I've been working on the McGuinn Byrds licks with my 360/12FG and a cheap compressor for a few months now. I get a good jangly sound out of my amp but when I record, I play it clean with some treble boost straight into my mixer and then apply my Sony SoundForge WaveHammer compressor to it. Sounds ...

I've changed the strings on my 2006 360/12FG once since it was new. I followed Roger McGuinn's DVD, but added a few tricks.

- I attached all the strings to the R tail piece with masking tape.
- I placed a soft cotton cloth under the R
- I clamped all the strings, in order to the second fret ...

I bought my 2005 4003FG from Guitar Rez in Austin. They are terrific to work with and I had my guitar in my hands here in Calgary, Alberta in about a week! Great price, great service!

OMG what a gorgeous RIC! I'm looking at my 2006 360/12FG and thinking, gee... I wonder what I could get for that... if I ordered a 360/12C63 now... then two years from now.... damn!

Absolutely stunning guitar! Congrats!
