Thanks, yeah this is the schematic from which I am working. I am guessing the problem is a bad component.. I've been caught up with holiday things, but tonight I should be getting back to my guitar project.

Control trouble

I am in need of a big favor. I have done some rewiring using the 650 schematics as a guide.
I did change the toggle out to select humbucking at neck or single at neck... this works fine however.
But something is amiss with the volume control.
Could someone draw a wiring diagram (from the back ...

I can't understand why controls that affect the other would be desireable at all. Playing Rick basses for so long has perhaps colored my view. Has Ric ever done this?
Thanks

650 wiring layout

I am curious if the 650 comes with volume controls that affect eachother.. like a Les Paul. Or does the wiring allow you to change the volume of one pickup without changing the other pickup's signal?

The clicking noises are a terrible problem! But as a service to you I'll take these problem basses off your hands for ten bucks.. I'll even pay shipping.

Fret comparisons

I am a big fan of small frets when I play 6 string guitar..But I am curious about the frets on the different Rick guitar models through the years. Do some models/years have smaller/larger frets than others (for example as Tele's do) ?

It's a good thing Rush had Geddy Lee but it's also a good thing that CCR had Stu Cook.. it just depends on the magic of circumstance.

Practice in the dark! I started out doing this and I highly recommend it. If you are a neck-looker you will be surprised how fast your muscle memory takes over if you let it.

In the past I have used those perfume/cologne sample cards that come in some magazines.. leave one in the case after airing it out.. Though I was trying to cover up smoke/sweat smell. But as I think about this, I wonder if a small cloth bag of activated charcoal (from pet shops) would absorb the ...

Also make sure that if you are using an AC to DC adaptor that the milliamp rating is correct for the pedal. I have several 9 volt adaptors with different milliamp ratings.. one of my old pedals is very picky and sounds terrible if not using the correct one.

My Ric experience is different from the main thread here.. that is that my '90 4003 neck feels thinner/sleeker than my '75 4001. In fact the 4001 feels more solid/robust/heavier than the 4003.

Ken.. I remember the Mayday sales! and standing in line all night!!!!! The first guy in line undoubtedly camped out for a couple days I guess. My last time there was probably in the late eighties. Venemans Rockville was IT for a while, never liked Levins for some reason. Springfield was okay, I ...

A funny thing about bass tone is that when it is embedded in the mix it can sound great. But if you strip away all the other tracks and it is alone.. well it usually sounds awkward and noisy.
I have, over the years, been trying to meld my personal tone and find that a great tone by it self is going ...

I remember an article in Guitar Player magazine back in the eighties in which the author was allowed onstage by some famous rocker/guitar player before the crowd was able to come into the arena. The artist let the author of the article play his guitar/rig. But he was surprised that he still sounded ...
