Re: 4003 versus 4004

The 4004 I sold recently sounded fantastic. It still sounds great! It's seen a lot of use over the past couple of weeks. I'm running it through a TC Electronic rig (RH750 & RS210/RS212 cabs). It's different to my other Rickenbackers - perhaps a little less zing at the very top end, but with a s...

Re: Calling all 4080 owners!

Hmmm

The 11-82 Burgundy 4/6 listed in the register is a bit odd. The photo is actually of my 1975 one in front of my old Ashdown stack.

Nick Beggs - Formerly Kajagoogoo, Now Steve Hackett

Saw Steve Hackett on Saturday night at The Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. Steve has a new band on this outing, including former Kajagoogoo bassist Nick Beggs. Famous for playing the Chapman Stick (which featured in a few numbers), Mr Beggs spent most of the night with a fireglo 4003 (or possibly ...

Re: Mike Rutherford 4001S FG (RM1999)

That's what I was trying to get Squids to ask: is this really the original SEBTP tour doubleneck, in which case why all the mods after the tour, or is it in fact another instrument altogether (in which case why when MR switched to the Microfret/Rickenbacker doubleneck for the next tour)? I think he ...

Re: Mike Rutherford 4001S FG (RM1999)

it was on dudepit i believe last year or so. there were pics at the farm or warehouse thingy showing all the gear that was in there. the double neck was awful looking with some *********** pickguard with dome rivet pickups. I remember those. I was told they were old photos, and it's currently much ...

Re: Erm Take That.

Very much of its time, but you forgot to mention the big Genesis influence clearly apparent in the keyboard solo. It's inevitable I suppose, but being their 'hit single', it's not exactly a true indication of what they were/are about. Speaking of XTC, I might just pop along to find out what this is ...

Re: Erm Take That.

Actually that's Lee Pomeroy on 4003. Lee also plays bass with the current incarnation of It Bites, who were rather splendid when I saw them at Christmas. He seems to be quite heavily influenced by prog and apparently has his own prog band. I'm guessing Take That pays the bills...

Re: Mike Rutherford 4001S FG (RM1999)

Eden, Michael Rutherford's custom Ric doubleneck was never stolen and he still has it. He made it available to Genesis cover band extraordinaire, The Musical Box (http://www.themusicalbox.net/archives/), to make a duplicate (left handed) for their show. Not sure where your info comes from. When I s...

Re: Geddy's Bass Line on CTTH

I'm afraid you are wrong. On Rock Band, Closer to the Heart, Working Man & the entire Moving Pictures album are all actual Rush recordings. The version of Working Man is different to the album version as the multitracks for that particular take could not be found. Watch them attempt to play Tom ...

Re: Model of the week 18: Chris Squire Limited Edition

I bought mine via the Ric page, although it belonged to a forum member here - Mike C. Serial is early 500s, but certificate is dated 1993, which seems a bit out of sync. It's a dream to play, sounds fantastic and dominates any mix - I love it! Before it got to me, it was well photographed on Mr Rath...

Yes, I'd be interested to get a look at how you're doing it. I've a feeling I'm making it harder than it need be. If you can't see my email, PM me and I'll pass it on. Thanks

Re: Geddy's Bass Line on CTTH

Geddy played the Ric on the Snakes & Arrows Tour . . . albeit just for one song, but it was "A Passage to Bangkok... The Farewell to Kings Rickenbacker tone is why I got a Ric. I read an interview with Geddy the other day where he said that he used it on Bangkok to stop people from asking ...

I've been away from here for a bit, so missed this, but here's mine in Jetglo: http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/4277/4003s5jg2dh9.jpg http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/7067/4003s5jg1yu7.jpg The photos are Jason's (Jdog's), but the bass is now mine (thanks Jason). I haven't managed to photograph i...
