I wonder how many covers will have to be sold to break even?
I know. Go big or go home. I’ve just ordered another one to get a short magnet Toaster made for surface mounting in the middle position.

Toasted Heretic

I found a guy in the UK on the Rickenfaker Facebook page who is making “authentic” Toaster covers out of pressed non-ferretic steel. I say authentic because they are the correct height and have the rounded corners unlike the other non-Rick replacements out there. He told me the cost of tooling alone...

Re: Are 360/12's hard to play?

I had a lot of fretting difficulties when I first got my 360-12. I finally got a new nut cut for it with the string pairs set closer together. Made a big difference to the playability

Loureiro Pickups and Creamery Pickups both offer this.

Converting a 360 to a 370 in 10 minutes.

Take some of those rubber spacers that are used to separate the upper and lower pickguards on your guitar and use them to raise the lower pickguard off the body, one for each screw hole. This mod will mean sacrificing the original upper pickguard or getting a specific 370 upper pickguard to accommod...

Re: Position of bridge pickup

Placement of the bridge pickpup is a trade-off between jangle and girth. On my 1981 320, which has the 21 inch scale instead of the 20 3/4 325's, the pickups were still in the old positions, with the additional 1/4 inch in scale length made by moving the bridge back, effectively changing the tone o...

Position of bridge pickup

I'm going to throw this out there to the floor. In my opinion, the bridge pickup on Rick guitars is positioned too close to the bridge. For another project I am working on, I have a surface mount goldfoil style pickup attached straight to an output jack. I tried placing it on top of my Rick and foun...

Re: Brightening up a 360

This is not the same wiring. Gibsons and Ricks are wired COMPLETELY differently. But what do I know.... I don't think I'm wrong in saying that the wiring on a Les Paul goes: Pickups - Volume and tone controls - 3-way selector - mono output jack. There's more to it IIRC. On Les Pauls that I h...

Re: Brightening up a 360

Not taking the fifth knob into consideration, this is the same as the wiring you would find on a Les Paul. You will find plenty of illustrations online on how to wire that one up. This is not the same wiring. Gibsons and Ricks are wired COMPLETELY differently. But what do I know.... I don't ...

Re: Brightening up a 360

Mr Wilson, if you are happy with how the individual pickups sound on the stereo output and want to recreate it on the mono out, it's an easy enough mod to do. At the moment it goes: Pickups - 3-way selector - volume and tone controls - stereo jack - mono jack You want it to go: Pickups - volume and ...

http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/custom-guitars-handwound-pickups-blog/item/creamery-replacement-rickenbacker-style-pickups.html#hum-cancelling Toasterbuckers have landed. After numerous emails back and forth with Jaime, I got a set of these wound with 43awg to 9k at the neck and 10.5k bridge. Slig...

Re: Brightening up a 360

Also, check that it's not the pickup that's the problem. I had to get a Hi-Gain neck pickup rewound as it was way way overwound. It was reading 18kOhms. The guy who rewound it said that when he opened it there was so much wire on it, it was practically falling off. This was how it came from the fact...

Re: Brightening up a 360

Lose the Rickosound. The way it is wired means that when you are plugged into the mono input and have one pickup selected the volume and tone controls of the other are also attached to the output and vice versa. This results in a loss of clarity and high end. Otherwise, look at the pot values of you...

Re: Pickup alternative

Selling those pickups with Toaster style covers will get him in trouble with RIC. Maybe, maybe not. He is based in the UK. I know that shops there openly sell Rick-a-likes such as Rockinbetter without seeming to have any issues. I'm sure John Hall could probably tell us more. I posted pictures in a...

Pickup alternative

Just a quick heads up. Picked up a set of humbuckers off this guy and I'm very pleased with the sound.
