I've been using Hartke cabs for years. I started with the 4x10 Transporter, later added a 1x15 XL series, and recently upgraded to a 4X10 with a 4.5 tweeter.Great sound, very dependable and durable.

After much thought, I decided to have my 4003s/5 checked out by another luthier. Incredibly the second luthier found a bad connection to the pick-up switch. A very easy fix, no charge, (but I did turn him on to a bottle of Gray Goose) and the bass is up and running again.

A special thanks to all ...

Joey,
I've always loved this bass. I got it the same year my wife and I were married. Still have the bass, still married!

I added some new pick-ups to it last year (Christmas present) and use it every week-end.

People never fail to comment on what a great looking & sounding bass it is. It ...

This is my 1979 4001 FG. I added a toaster & new high gain last year. This is the sweetest bass I've ever played. I've owned it since day one!

Bridge Pick-Up for 4003s/5

The treble pup on my 4003s5 was diagnosed as "dead" this afternoon by my luthier, he suggested I send it out and have it re-wound.

Since RIC no longer makes these pups, would you guys suggest having it re-wound, or buying a new pup with 4 poles.

Any suggestions would be appreciated
Pete

Chaos And Creation / Rickenbacker?

Listening to Paul's new album, I'm loving the sound and texture of his bass. Very thoughtful playing, almost old-school Paul.

The Hofner is listed as the bass that was used, BUT I'd make an argument that it might indeed be the 4001.
Any thoughts?

Don't laugh....I've tried the Hartke .125 that comes 3 sets to a pack for about $24.00. I must say they hold up very well and sound great. I play out at least twice a week, and probably average about 8-10 gigs per set. They are a tad wider than the RIC strigs, but they seem to work just fine.

I think it's real important for young players to learn guitar BEFORE beginning the bass. I learned all the chords, barr chords and other variations of them before picking up the bass. By learning this way a player can identify which chords are being used by sight.I've been playing bass now for 35 ...
