I've used a Dehumidifier in my play room ever since living in NOLA, and still use it over here during the rainy season in Winter.
Didn't know how many of y'all use one as well, but thought I'd share this just FYI.

Re: Price on 325c64
Given the availability and recent asking prices, I'd consider anything between $1800 and $2K a fairly good deal.

Re: Thomastik Infeld Strings ???
I first tried flats on some Fender guitars, trying to replicate surf sounds. I originally used Fender flats.
I discovered I really loved the feel on the neck, and the warmth the strings offered. As I got more into The Beatles thing, I tried them on a Casino and J-160E, where I discovered they ...

Re: Keep 325 trio intact?: C58, V59, C64
It sounds like you're weighing the same decision I was dealing with a couple years ago over my 325s. After purchasing one, I had initially set out very deliberately to build a small collection.
But at some point I felt constrained by the very thing I'd accomplished. For me, reality was I was ...

Re: Here they are...my little 325 family....
My only real criticism of the 1996 was the finish Robert, which was *nothing* like the NAMM model I'd seen and based my ordering decision on. The finish on mine was *very* orange, as opposed to the nice aged-tinted FG appearance of the demos (and actually, the more recent finishes on the 1996 models ...

Re: Here they are...my little 325 family....
Thanks gang.
Peter, the JG c58 was a sentimental favorite, as it was the first 325 I bought. But the best player was the MG with the Bigsby. I actually picked that one up off a tip from Jake here on RRF--it was sitting on the 'bay with a really low BIN. Thought I'd buy it and flip it.

Re: Gibson j160E versus Epiphone counterpart
Hi Wolfgang,
The characteristics you mention for the Gibson J-160E would be true for one of the various Lennon Reissues--ply top, adjustable bridge, etc.. The standard Gibson J-160Es (like the VS models) have solid tops and fixed bridges.
The Epiphone EJ-160E is a solid-topped, fixed bridge ...

Re: Gibson j160E versus Epiphone counterpart
Peter, it's really impossible to say for sure between ay two individual guitars, particularly acoustics/acoustic-electrics IMHO, which one will sound better.
My gut and some logic suggests that, IMHO, the Gibson will probably tend to sound better over a series of examples--with the Gibson, you can ...

Re: Burns Reproduction Knobs
Mine were tight, but I was able to press them on by lubing the pot shafts with a little Chapstik.
Although it didn't happen with mine, it did cross my mind though that I might have figured out how Lennon cracked his pick guard...

Re: Rickenbacker retailers
Wildwood always seems to have a large selection in stock....I've never dealt with them, but have only heard good things about them. PoTRs also has a great reputation.
The Music Zoo in NY usually has a decent selection, and they're also good with placing odrers; I've bought two Rics from them (as ...

Re: Gibson j160E versus Epiphone counterpart
I've owned both--I think they're both excellent guitars. Having said that, I did sell my EJ after keeping both guitars for about a year.
Probably the biggest factor influencing my decision to keep the Gibson was the shorter scale and preference for the beefier neck on the Gibby. FWIW, even with ...
