You Tube tech problem
Recently I have been having trouble watching embedded You Tube videos. They are all washed out. In viewing the same video on You Tube there are no issues. Any advice? Gil?

Re: NPD Toaster and Horseshoe Installed
Hmm, can't find it right now... but I seem to remember something from John Hall on this forum that said that the shoes were a significant part of reproducing the vintage horseshoe sound. Anyone else remember that? I believe that the Magnetic pole touch the horseshoes and gives them a magnet is fiel...

2012/2013 Lord Stanley Cup Playoffs
I find exciting that five of the original six NHL teams are playing in the finals. On top of that they have all matched with 1 or 2 of the originals at this point. Hockey night in Canada doesn't get any better than this. It is nice to see these old rivalries re-ignited. NHL original six.jpg Don Cher...

Re: How Many Of Us Actually Use Rickenbacker Strings?
For bass. I only used the factory strings that came on my '68 4000 when it was new. Other than that no. I did use RIC compression wound strings on a couple of my 6 string guitars.

Re: NPD Toaster and Horseshoe Installed
I happy to hear you found your tone, but for aesthetics my first choice would be to reuse the original treble pickup surround, if not then turn the one for the horseshoe around because it is on backwards.

It is referred to as a Model 390 in the Smith book (pg. 183).

Thanks to you!johnallg wrote:Looks like you made your goal, Ken.
To be honest I started with a $100 goal, but moved it up due to everyone's generosity. It really isn't a race or a competition to see who can raise the most it is a joint effort by all.

2013 Relay for Life
I have signed up again this year for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. I have a personal page set up at their website. Are there any other forum members planning on attending their local Relay? A big thanks goes out to forum member Kevin Kuney who noticed last week I added a web link to ...

...With each purchase, I will enclose a full-color page (or pages) proof from the book with that bass' photo on it, suitable for framing (!). (One bass for sale was not in the book.) Basses sold and taken away at the Confluence will include a free autographed copy of the book (!!!). That in itself ...

Re: How many of you use the Ric-O-Sound?
I use it too, stereo cable style, bridge p/up into an Acoustic 260 micro stack (sometimes I use an EH Nano muff on that line just for a little "oomph" ) and neck p/up into an Acoustic B100. I've said it before I'll say it again, expensive American bass through affordable Chinese amps... a...

Re: Affect of neck pickup magnet on bridge pickup tone
It is clear to me. I was just adding that info because one pot (of the same value as two) will brighten the tone.johnallg wrote:No, I was correcting/clarifying for Ken. I just quoted the wrong post.cassius987 wrote:Right, John. Were you correcting me? I must have missed something.

Re: Affect of neck pickup magnet on bridge pickup tone
Really? Just remove the neck pickup, continue to use the ROS jack. The bass is the same; the strings are the same; the wiring's the same. The only thing that has changed, because you are using the ROS jack and not the mono, is that one of the magnets is gone. One thing additional to consider in ROS...
