Re: 4003 British Racing Green limited run
Did your old basses have the cap? It makes the bridge pickup a lot quieter in comparison to the neck pickup. The bridge pickup is also wound a bit hotter on the newer basses (though for a while now they've also had the capacitor on a push/pull control).

Re: Guitar Bodies and Copyright
IIRC Fender lost their trademark to the strat shape in US courts decades ago because they didn't bother enforcing it for a while. Personally I think it's kinda ridiculous to suddenly start enforcing it all this time later after so many years of not bothering.

Expensive for a switch tip, but you know what they say, buy once cry once.

None are Gibsons. But they don't all match each other, or my Dean, or my Peavey, or my Rickenbackers.jps wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 1:39 am Hm. I would have thougth that USA made Gibsons would have Switchcraft selector switches. Maybe not.

Re: Rickenbacker toggle switch tip thread size
I didn't realize that Switchcraft uses different thread sizes depending on the layout of the switch. So much for compatibility!
I mean I don't know if the switches on anything but my Rickenbackers are Switchcrafts, either. My 4001 when I had it restored I got a new wiring harness so it should ...

Re: Rickenbacker toggle switch tip thread size
I mean you say that but of my instruments with toggle switches, there are three different size/thread switch tips. The switch tips from my Rickenbackers are not compatible with my Les Paul, which isn't compatible with my explorer bass or firebird and SG. Switchcraft all use the same threading and ...

Re: Locking tuners on your 12
I was wondering if anyone has put locking tuners on their 12 string? I have them on my G&L Comanche and it seems to make a difference with tuning(maybe it's just my imagination?.) Only draw back I can see is maybe slight neck dive.LOL

Rickenbacker toggle switch tip thread size
Hey everyone, I'm thinking about replacing the switch tip on my 4003 (with a metal one, just for aesthetic reasons and to be able to change up the look) but obviously thread sizes can vary quite a bit. Does anyone know the threading of the switch where the tip screws on?
I would assume that at ...

The black bridge/tailpiece is a bit odd looking but otherwise looks great.Filthyphil wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 5:04 pm It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I rather like it. ‘79 4001 V57H.

Re: Wish List - Rickenbacker bass Offerings and Features
I find a master tone indispensable, and preferable to individual tone controls. There’s lots of times I don’t want ALL the treble the Rick gives.
Not sure how having 2 individual volumes AND a balance control wouldn’t be superfluous.
My tone knobs all stay all the way up. I've even ...

Damn, the 4005 is basically going away again just when I might get a raise.
