Thanks for the heads up on this thread Warren!
I was indeed lucky enough to get that trans blue from POR. I called as soon as the two Cii/5 were offered (a trans red and a trans blue) and the trans red was already taken! So I just pulled the gun on the trans blue immediately.
One of the best ...

I'm in for a reissue 4005! For that kind of money I'd rather have a brand new bass!

I take back my huh?! Now it makes perfect sense!
What guitars have you seen the richlite in Larry? Madagascar rosewood sounds like the deal to me but it would be interesting to check out the sonic properties of the richlite.

I second that Huh?
Probably Larry was thinking he responded to another thread!
Anyway, glad this one came back. Does anyone know if this guitar is into production yet? Mr Hall, have you decided on a tailpiece (I just know it's going to be a wooden one!)?

I think I read somewhere that John Hall actually gave Paul the first 4001C64S during the Driving Rain sessions in LA and according to this it is the very same bass he used for one of the songs in the album.

Thanks Joey! You know this pictures never do them justice, but you get a pretty good idea of the finish anyway. The 4004 series are a joy to play and I'm having a blast with them.
Have you experienced the low volume problem with the low B in the trans red?

Ok, I'm back! Sorry for not posting right away when I got my 4004/5 Cii TB but I had to get away for a few days. Anyway, both the Cheyenne TB and the Laredo FG arrived together so you can imagine I was like a little kid at xmas! I'd never played a 4004 before so I'm having lots of fun with them ...

There! I think I finally got it!
Well, I this should be the same PU placement we're talking about. And you're right, it is BUBINGA, sorry. Anyway, it must be quite a different sound than the first Laredos with maple fret board I guess.

Ed, I think your PU placement is like this one, right?

Another change I notice is the fingerboard from maple to rosewood. I think this changes the sound also.
