If the C series are possible, with the accompanying roughly what? -- 50% or so premiums over "typical" street prices, it seems peculiar that modifications to the 330 and 360/370 models to accept a 660-style neck and fingerboard (obviously a set neck rather than a thru-neck) would be that impossible ...

New C58 available...

...at Dave's Guitar in Wisconsin. A Jetglo finish model.

I am not planning on buying one (waiting on a 12-string 700...), but happened across it while checking his inventory today: http://www.davesguitar.com/inventory.htm

For those of you who may be interested.

I just talked to Dave's Guitar Shop in LaCrosse Wisconsin today.

They indicated that they too have received a C58 ("NaturalGlo" ). They said it's a beauty, but that, although it's spoken for, they have others on order which are, from what I understood, *not* pre-bought.

Miguel,

Your idea seems uncannily like that of another guitar-tinkerer: Les Paul. :-)

I agree -- the TP neck & fingerboard onto a 330 - 370 series body would work for me!

I like Mike's idea -- that's the model I'd go for too. A 360/12 with a wider fingerboard.

From there, the remaining choices are virtually incidental, although I suspect most folks would want:

-- full-width triangular inlays (a la TP, CW, RM models)
-- VP -- vintage pickup option
-- 21 fret ...

..."Mapleglo is the only way to go with these ....."

I've wondered what the *correct* finish term would be for a rosewood/spruce acoustic Rickenbacker guitar, one on which the maple content is very low, if not nil. Isn't "Mapleglo" misleadingly, .."maple"? :-)

Maybe there's a maple bridge ...

I tried the Shasta and the Comstock in six-strings about half a year ago. To my ears, I preferred the Gibsons I'm used to -- a bit more mid-range. The Ricks -- especialy the maple Comstock -- were a bit brighter than I like in an acoustic.

I'll reserve judgment on the 12-string variant till I ...

Shoot!! I totally forgot about the 380Laguna! You're right of course. That's a set neck, not a neck-through, isn't it?

That is one model I have never actually seen live and in the flesh, yet.

I am not a manufacturer, just a player.

But I am in agreement with the frustrations of others who have posted concerning the narrowness of the 300 series 12-string fingerboard. I also consider that the adapting of a 660/12 neck on a 330-381 would be the ticket, achieving both playability and the ...

I know what you mean, having had the pleasure of owning that RM370/12 which was (is?) featured on your webpage ("to every thing there is a season").

It looks real cool with a bit of birdseye, and the natural darkening that the lacquer takes on, so "I hear ya"! :-)

I think look of the double ...

Have to disagree (respectfully, of course!), Peter.

It's Fireglo first, in my book. Then Mapleglo.

Uh-huh.

I checked out Dave's on Nov. 1, and played those two acoustic Ricks also. (They need new strings by now, btw.)

My "tonal reference" is the Gibson sound, not so much the Martin, but of course, Dave's has dozens of "reference" guitars available for quick comparisons.

Nevertheless, I compared the ...

Congratulations, David!

I'm glad everything worked out well -- the screwed-up delivery got rectified; and that you are 'taken' with the guitar.

Thanks for posting that, Peter. I too saw John Hall's link in alt.g.ric and found the article. (I'd been checking all the guitar rags for the past 4 weeks or so after John mentioned there was a review on these models somewhere.)

Still, I'd love to hear playability comments from a non-guitar-mag ...
