Re: Rick-O-Sound questions
Another thing to try is a guitar amp on the bridge pup. This has been done by some of the greats —people like Chris Squire for example. I've done it with my Ampeg on the neck pup and a Marshall guitar stack on the bridge. It is a pretty big sound. Problem is I also use a 4003 S/8 and a custom Jazz ...

Re: Another amazing craigslist bass
If this is for real ... it is a deal ... someone in here should buy it. Even if the tone/volume is a mod ... cheap price ... I would, but I've bought 2 basses this year already.

Re: Another 4003 S/8 on eBay
I heard the same thing about the tuners/strings ... not sure if it was from John or not —could have been. To be honest, I actually don't consider changing the string order much of a mod —if it works better for you; that is the important thing. The nut needed to be changed ... your bass looks sweet ...

Re: Another 4003 S/8 on eBay
Whomever did the mods changed the octave string order without changing the nut (nuts ?????) ... the strings have been altered with the octave before the root string (like the 4008's) I don't get that ... either buy an 4008 (ok hard to find) or why not leave it stock ... or buy a custom 8 string. I ...

Good eye ... I wonder who makes that mod ... is it different bridge as well?hieronymous wrote:Wow - interesting mods - check out the bridge pieces - separate for each string! Plus, the octave courses are opposite from the standard S/8 arrangement.

Another 4003 S/8 on eBay
Another S/8 is for sale on eBay. Buy it now price is $3500.00 —not sure I need another one, but this one looks pretty nice. From the numbers it is an '88. A '91, with some mods, just sold for $2,975.98 a couple of days ago. They are fantastic instruments. Not sure what it will sell for, but I'll be ...

Re: Olivia's does it again! 4005 Price Record?
It is beginning to appear that there is a fever going around us Rickenbacker junkies. I guess what bugs me is that I did not buy one of these gems when they were priced on the planet ... you know 2 years ago ... hell even a year ago. However, I think we will see prices drop in light of the global ...

Re: I'll be .... '73 Rick you say ...
The guy was out of his mind. I saw a mint '73 in the U.K sell for £1795. That's about $2700 U.S. dollars. I can see that kind of money for an pristine instrument from a collector, but not a buckle-rashed beater with a aftermarket bridge. I guess there are suckers out there that see a checker and go ...
