Re: Paul McCartney's basses and guitars - the TV interview

Wow ... that was quite excellent. Thanks Ilan, great job. I'm surprised that being that close to the Hofner your hair did not turn white like Moses' hair did when he was in contact with the Burning Bush :) Being that close to his Hofner would be a serious religious experience for me.

Re: Makes me wish I was left handed...

Hi ya Peter, it's Jeff from Montreal. I just got my lefty 330 FG recently and she's a beauty. It took almost three years but it was well worth the wait! Pics to come in the near future. By the way, the 4001V63 is the sweetest bass I've ever played.

Re: PYRAMID STRINGS

But can the .010 - .0456 flatwound set do damage to a 330? Sounds like most of the horror stories are for the 12-string Ricks.

Re: PYRAMID STRINGS

I know this topic has been covered a lot in previous posts, but I find the majority of the comments tend to be about how the Pyramid flats are with a 12-string. I have a 330 and am planning on fitting it with Pyramid flats (.010 - .0465). I'd be curious to hear from those of you who have these ...

Re: Which Strings Are Your Faves?

For my 4001v63, I use D'Addario EXL 190 (.100 .080 .060 .040), but I replace the .040 with a .045

For my Fender Jazz, TI Jazz Flats (344)

Re: Which Strings Are Your Faves?

In the perfect situation, I'd have two basses but at present I only have one (4001v63). For rounds, I love D'Addario EXL 190 ... but I replace the .040 with a .045. For flats, I love the TIs (344). But lately, I've been hearing a lot of positive feedback with respect to La Bella flats.

Re: V63

On the topic of the V63, I scored mine in December 2007. I bought it from a fellow Rickresource member (lLeftyguitars). He was great to deal with. It's a mint 1996 V63 (MG). I am so impressed with this bass it's crazy. Forget about how gorgeous it looks, but it stays in tune forever, has no dead ...

Re: v63 value

This is a great topic. The prices people have quoted are reasonable, but I suspect with the price increase, this will drive all model prices up. As well, the prices that people seem to discuss on this thread are with respect to right-handed Ricks. When it comes to left-handed Rick basses, trust me ...

Re: Dead spots on v63

Ted,

I love the 4001v63 in JG! I have the MG myself, but if it was a choice between JG and FG, I'd take the JG. Beautiful bass you have.

Re: Dead spots on v63

I have a 1996 4001v63. I just got it in December from another forum member. Mine has no dead spots. I feel quite fortunate after reading this post. I've also learned a lot ... thanks.
