Re: What makes rick sound?

Along with all of these other elements, I also believe the aluminum bridge saddles have a TON to do with the Rick sound.

Do Hi Gains Sound Like Original DeArmonds?

So a while back, on another board some of you frequent as well, someone made an off hand comment that Rickenbacker made pups that sound exactly like the old DeArmonds that came in Gretsch guitars in the 50's. It was near the end of a really long thread and it was never answered if it was Hi Gains or ...

Re: Rickenbackers

I tried that for a while but I had too many that I couldn't part with. I also parted with too many that I really wish I had not. I Think if I were going to be successful at buying and selling gear, I would have to stick to gear that I didn't really like myself. Oh well, I did end up with a bunch of ...

How Do They Do It?

I know there was just a thread about all of our favorite things about Jetglo finishes, but my question is this: How the heck do they stay so clean and fingerprint/sweat mark free? I don't have particularly acidic sweat, but all that stuff shows up on every other black guitar I've owned or played.

I ...

Re: Coated Strings

Well, I tried flats, which are coated (I realize yours are not the flatwound variety) on my 370 and I DID NOT like them. I did lose way too much high end sparkle.

On the other hand, I put some on my Strat and they sounded awesome. The moral of the story is, put them on and leave the ends long. You ...

They are a beautiful pair.

Melissa, your Purpleburst is the most unique Rick I have ever seen. I have been secretly admiring it since I came on here. It's really cool! 8)

Yep, that's me over there. I think there are a lot of us that go back and forth between here and the GDP. Ricks and Gretsches are certainly kindred spirits!

Re: A Big Howdy and a Little Guitar Porn

Thanks for the mighty welcome everyone. I've been lurking pretty hard around here for the last couple of weeks. You all seem like a really nice bunch. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute somewhere along the way.

This is actually my 2nd Rick. I had a MB 360 a while back but decided I would sell it ...

A Big Howdy and a Little Guitar Porn

Hey Guys. I'm new around here so I just wanted to say hey to everyone.

I thought I'd share a few pics of my new 370 and AC30 as well. I've had the Falcon for about a year but I thought the two looked so good together, you might enjoy a look at that too.

Greetings all!! Enjoy the Porn!! :)

Re: Trying To Intonate

Carl, I think you'll find the RIC sets to still be your best bet. They're not .008's, if that was what you were asking in your first post, they're .010's. Welcome, BTW.

Yeah I figured they were .10s but the owner's manual does say .008s. So, they are a compressed roundwound? They sound great ...

Re: Trying To Intonate

Welcome, Carl. I also post on Gretschpages, where I'm "cardesnr99" and a big fan of Proteus'.

Thanks. I think we're all big fans of the infamous Proteus!! :D I am Wishinfora(nother)falcon over there.

FYI, I FINALLY got the 370 intonated. I found that the easiest way to do this was to back the ...

Re: Trying To Intonate

Thanks for the quick reply and the welcome.

I apologize for the lack of introduction. As soon as I get my new 370 set up, I will post a big hello to the forum. This seems like a friendly place. I have been lurking a bit this week and I hear good things from those on the Gretsch forum, where I post ...

Trying To Intonate

Hey Guys, I changed from the factory strings (are they really .008s?) to .011s. I am trying to intonate the G string for a wound G and as I turn counterclockwise, the screw just backs out and the saddle itself does not seem to move at all. What's up. Should I maybe gently tap it with a punch. Thanks ...
