Re: Just got this

Thanks... I will try all of the above. Like I said, the distortion is not objectionable. However, I would like to get some kind of a clean tone out of it to start with and work from there.

Just got this

Amp front 1.jpg

Found this in my guitar pusher's stash of amps. Had to have it. Is this a B9? The upright configuration of the chassis is different than other B9's I have seen in photos. I had a grounded cord installed and the large can-capacitor was not functioning well and had it bypassed and ...

Re: Byrd Watching

Looks like Jackson Browne singing with Crosby. And whoever the sax player is at upper right, sure looks like John Jorgenson.

Chris Hillman's "Eight Miles High 2005" on his website, is very good also. A very different take on it.

I misspoke... that should be a 360-12. See? My fingers are not working right on a keyboard either!

Re: McGuinn's Banjo Technique

11 months for JK... a decade for me? Yeah, I've been working on a wider necked guitar too. Still, the ring finger is not cooperating as much as I would like. I want quicker gratification, thank you.

I started out with an MXR DynaComp and used that for a while. Soon after I got the Rick 620-12 ...

Re: McGuinn's Banjo Technique

As usual, I had/have every intention to work diligently at it. Then family and life intervenes so I am side tracked and it does not get done.
I really need to re-evaluate my priorities.

I'll get right on it!

Re: McGuinn's Banjo Technique

Folkie,
I feel your pain! I too have been trying, and trying (and trying) to get the technique down. It has been agonizingly slow. I'm still using using the flat-pick technique most of the time and working diligently with the finger picks on the middle and ring fingers. ARGH! The ring finger does ...

Add my thanks to Troy for his efforts. It's much appreciated.
The next time someone is shooting video, I'll wear the glasses!

Back Pages at Central Market

Many thanks to Troy (tyarbrough) for coming out and shooting some video of Back Pages Saturday night.
Please check the new "Act Nturally" forum for these videos from last weekend.
It was blazing hot but lots of fun!

It's not often you see 3 Rics in one band, eh?

He played the Ric quite a bit during his show in Fort Worth last November. Don't know why he would neglect it now.

Re: Help!!! Teach me about Vox amps!!!!

I have been using a Valvetronix VT30 30W for about a year now. For band practice and low volume situations it is very good!
I have been using the "Tweed" setting and the internal compressor with good results. It's quite usable, sounds really good. The line-out allows me to practice at night, there's ...

Re: McGuinn show

You are probably right. As I studied this, I was thinking that those fingerer picks would be making a racket on the middle pickup.
I don't think it's tape--it looks like it is screwed on. But a guard against pick noise and scratching would be logical.

Re: McGuinn show

That's exactly what I did. Took the pickguard and an album to get signed.

Best laid plans and all that. Very understandable though.

I'm having issues with Photobucket so after Thanksgiving I'll post some photos.
