Great up and coming band from here in Canada. Cool vintage 480 or 481 being played:

Here's a better "live" version with the great Randy Bachman followed by a cover of 'Laughing' by the Guess Who. No Rickenbacker in this video, sadly:

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?
The Beatles, the unique styling of the [bass] guitar, and the fact that no one in my age group (that I know of) around where I live has one.

Re: Allen Key for 4003
Definitely true considering shipping costs more than the key itself!

Re: Allen Key for 4003
Awesome. Thank you all for the information, I've been to the Rickenbacker site but the damnedest thing is that they bill to my province BUT not ship, so I'll have to make a trip down to a Home Depot or Rona.

Re: Allen Key for 4003
I am definitely in need of a new set! I have an old one consisting of larger wrenches, but am missing the smaller ones
it seems I have a tendency to lose the smaller ones. Maybe one of those Swiss Army knife style ones.

Re: If not a Rick...
Definitely a '62 American Vintage Precision, a Gibson EB-3, Hofner, and for the hell of it a Bass VI (massive Beatles, Floyd, and Cream fan here)

Allen Key for 4003
Just bought some new Rick strings for the 4003 from POTR, and lost my Allen key, and can't remember the size. I've read 1/16'' on other website but would like to know from the experts here on Rickresource (I have Rotosounds on now and had to lower my action to the max).

Re: Rics (guitars or basses) and Blues and Jazz
i have used my 4003 (neck pickup, with sometimes middle position) for a few jazz gigs with a jazz band, and my old band teacher told me every other bass (non-Rick of course) he's heard sounds like a toy compared to mine!

Re: Straps/Polish
Perfect. Thank you for your help. I was also wondering how the Fender straps would hold up on a Rickenbacker since they are also aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Also, the wax would work on the fingerboard as well?

Straps/Polish
Hi everyone. I have 2 questions regarding my '08 4003 JG (all stock parts). I'm extremely protective of it (as a Rick owner should be!) and was wondering:
a. What is (are) the best polish(es) for the body and fingerboard to keep its glorious shine, and
b. What is the best strap to use on a 4003 ...

Re: How Many Ric Basses Do You Have?
Since I am a student, I just have 1 Rickenbacker but it is my main bass, '08 Jetglo 4003. I am lusting after a 4001C64S and a 4001C64 FG though!

Re: Strings? Warranty?
Awesome. I still have the factory rounds on it but I would love to put some sweet flats on it like there are on my jazz
