Re: A classic from Studio Z, somewhere in the Deep South
It doesn't need any more guitar for me.
Just taking in all the layered vocals is plenty for anyone to concentrate on and enjoy, and the rootsy American folk comes across just great stripped down like that. Enjoyed it, thanks.

Re: World Party
Yeah Chris Sharrock was in World Party briefly.
After the heights of the La's and Icicle Works and before the 'dad rock' days of Robbie Williams and Oasis.
A great drummer.

Re: Scott Walker - The Enigma
Hi Roy, Thanks for the welcome - been with the forum for a while but drift in and out depending how obsessed I am with my guitar!
Yeah, I've got Scott Walker output through the 70s and into his 'avant-garde' newer stuff.

Re: Different Drum
Thanks for comments everyone, very kind.
Gotta come clean on the 12 string - I only have a 330/6 so for the riff I recorded two tracks an octave apart, and when they sit together you get the 12 string sound. Feel a fraud, and didn't mean to fool anyone, it was only way to get the 'sound' without ...

Re: Damaged Goods
Yeah listened three or four times, it's really good - love how snide the lyrics are in contrast to sweetness of the feel!
What's the background to the song, is it an original cos I've not heard it before, the hi-hats sound live and a touch of feedback make me think it might be?!

Re: Favorite Byrd
Yeah, think it's true to say McGuinn IS the Byrds, his sound is a constant, and if you go see the guy live, it feels like the Byrds. But the question is favourite Byrd? For me it's Gene Clark by a mile. He's the only one who's complete solo career I enjoy and get something out of, beautiful ...

Re: Scott Walker - The Enigma
For me, there are days when listening only to Scott Walker will do.
Can't begin to put into words how important I think his first four solo LPs are.

Different Drum
Trying to get to grips with some home recording I thought I'd have a stab at Mike Nesmith's Different Drum.
I was after more of a 'wall of country jangle' rather than the 'Harpsichord Folk' of The Stone Poney's version.
Trimmed the riff to feel a bit more Byrds-like.
Never sung on a recording ...

Re: A couple of questions.....
All good stuff there godber.
That off-beat choppy stab always sounds easy but playing along can be a feat of concentration.

Re: A couple of questions.....
Tough to keep it up at 40 for me though Scott, the mod haircut does no favours for the aging man, tends to turn into a Jimmy Savile look - Weller is the prime example!

LOL - Thanks John, that's sounding like the best offer I've had on the subject!
