Jim,
Information is a good thing. We all love these guitars and want to protect them as best we can. I put that here so that the OP could see that there were potential consequences.
Oh, and the circumstances are a long story that have to do with drummers getting married.

Re: What Would Happen If I Remove Six Strings From My 360/12?
No "do the math" jokes, please, but what would happen if next time I change strings on my 360/12, I do not put the six octave strings on? Would the different tension be too upseting for the guitar? Can she be played as a 360? Would string spacing be an issue? Any thoughts, please. Anyone ever try ...

Re: Original Owner 360/12
do you remember what kind of strings you used back in the 60s ? round or flat wound ?
At this point I can't tell you for certain what type of string came on the guitar. My recollection is that they were probably flat wound. I did prefer round wound strings and probably switched fairly soon. Maybe ...

Re: Original Owner 360/12
Beautiful guitar, Bob. Good thing you protected the back - far too many older Ricks have that characteristic gigging rash through the finish, and with the lovely maple on yours that kind of damage would have been a real shame. Thanks for posting the pics!

Re: Original Owner 360/12
I should have taken photos before I cleaned it up. I had played it as a 6 string for several years. I also placed the piece of leather on the back to prevent scratches. It actually looks very good now. I'll try to post pictures of the back.

Thanks. The build date from the SN is Nov 1966. I'll try to get some pictures up by the weekend.
