Re: Why did Geddy Lee stop using Ric's
I have read numerous interview with Ged over the years and here is my recollection: Geddy bought a old used Fender Jazz in the early 70's. He used it for the first RUSH album. Once the band cought on, the record company (Mercury) paid for them to get better instruments. Geddy got a 4001 because it w...

Blueburst for me. However, the pale opaques have grown on me and I would get a Seagreen, Desert Gold or Blueboy if I found one. Especially the Seagreen. I'm really liking that now.

Re: A list of reputable dealers?
Pretty much everyone listed is amazing. That being said, I have never had better deals or better customer service than I have at Jim's Music in Irvine, CA. On the negative side, they don't have many models (maybe 3 or 4) on stock at any given time (although they have many already ordered but not acc...

Re: Your Top Bass Players
Good call on the Mick Karn. My favorites might not be the "best" but they are original and I recognize them when I hear them: Macca Geddy Lee Chris Squire Peter Hook David Steel Sting John Wetton Tony Butler Bootsy Collins John Entwistle John Paul Jones Andy Rourke Les Pattinson Mark King ...

Re: Use Of Pickups On Fretless Basses
I find the single most influential thing for my tone on my fretless are the strings: flats vs. rounds and manufacturers. I haven't really thought much about using just one pickup but that's an interesting though Joey. I'll check it out!

I got mine for $100 about 5 years ago. While it helps, it still doesn't correct the intonation issue completely.

I just like the sounds I can get out of them.
The cool finishes and designs and RicOSmell are just cherries on top.

I am primarily a bass player. But when I have 6 string work to record, my workhorse is my 660/6 in Amberfireglo. I LOVE it!

Re: 1971 valuable catalog information price lists
I think just because it was on the list does not necessarily mean that anyone ordered that particular item, or that RIC manufactured that item. But it would be interesting to know the production of that year - what was made and how many of them.

Ooh! I LOVE that black on black and it's a 12 string to boot! Congrats on a beauty!
Dane, yours looks great too, but who is that playing it?
