Re: Keeping our 12-strings at concert pitch
My 330-12 has spent its entire 18 year life a somewhere around concert pitch. Short of stringing up with .16s you'll be fine.

Re: How often do you gents change the strings on a gigging 1
My band probably does a rehearsal or gig a couple of times a month and the only guitar I play is my 330-12. I'm not that light a picker but still only change strings every six months or so when they've gone lifeless enough for me to put up with the monumental pain in the bum that is a string change....

Re: New Owner
In terms of what I would like to play it would be classic rock and blues with a bit of indie, new wave and 60's pop thrown in. So I think i have the right guitars, just got to get the choice of a second amp right. Easy. AC-4 if you want to get on with your neighbours or an AC-15 if you can't stand ...

Re: New Owner
Sounds like a cracking pair of guitars. Always loved the look of 620s in MID. Something I didn't notice anyone asking was what sort of sounds you want to get, and whether you've got any ambitions to join bands etc. Because this has a very large impact on what size of amp to pick up. Folks are recomm...

Re: Favorite dirt pedal with Ric
I've got a Joyo Ultimate Drive - an OCD clone - into an old AC-30. It took a little bit of effort to get it to it's sweet spot (8 o'clock gain, 9 o'clock level and 1 o'clock on tone) but now I'm there its a lovely pedal.

Re: Volume drop after warm-up
Yep valves = tubes. I'm British, so habitually use UK terminology. Or the correct terminology as I like to think of it :-) Anyway, start with the easy things first, swap out one valve (tube) at a time and see what happens after each change. If the problem goes away you're done, and if not you know w...

Re: Volume drop after warm-up
There's two things that could be happening here. One is your preamp valves are going a bit sick, and the other is your biasing may have some temperature dependency. Have you tried changing the preamp valves (one at a time)?

Re: Overdrive experience with 330s with toasters
With the caveat that my 330-12 has high gains, I use a Joyo Ultimate Drive, which I beleive is an OCD clone, into an AC-30. If you can see past the eyewateringly taste free graphics (masking tape helps :D ) you have a pedal that can do a very nice responsive, low gain, transparent "starting to ...

Re: Recommended insurers?
My gear is insured through my home contents insurance. This is with Hiscox and I'm covered out of the house, as well as inside. While I've never claimed off them, the Ts & Cs seem fine and they had no problem with this and a 60s AC30. Basically I hope I never need it but it's there if I do. Chee...

Re: Seeking advice about Strats
Another option if you're prepared to go second hand are the Squier JV Strats - They were Fender's response to all the good quality copies coming out of Japan in the 80s. Take a look at http://www.21frets.com/ for more info. I've got one, bought it in 1993 and it was nicer to play than the US standar...

Re: Are Most First Rics Bought 12 String Models?
<delurk> I have something to add! My one and only is a 330-12. I bought it new in 1995 from Sound Control in Edinburgh, after I inherited some money. I had wanted a 12 string for some time, and used a chorus pedal to try and fill my sound out with a 6 string (a Squier JV strat). I seem to recall try...
