Re: Ouch. I hope this isn't as bad as it looks.

You guys sound like a bunch of old women. There's nothing wrong with modifying guitars, and a Rick is no better or worse candidate for it than a Fender. Some mods are done well, some are not done well. BFD!

Re: Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

I ordered a stereo jack plate from Guitar Parts Resource, without measuring :\

Although GPR has a great selection and shipped the part to me pronto, it doesn't fit the guitar. I needed some sort of jack support, though, so I just broke out the Dremel Moto-Tool (its proper name!) and cut the doggone ...

Re: Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

One thing I don't understand: why is the black finish referred to as JetGlo? I get Jet Black, but where's the glowing part?

Still enjoying playing this guitar.

Re: Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

Well.......that's about $1200.00 for this project, but you did not include the cost of the 'toasters.' Should you have to return them to the person you borrowed them from, expect to pay $300.00 or more for a replacement pair. This will bring your cost up to around that of a new 620......in fact ...

Re: Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

Thanks.

I actually looked around quite a bit for 330K pots, but couldn't source them anywhere but RIC. I tried local parts suppliers, Small Bear, Mouser...no one has them except RIC. Yes, it was painful.

Re: Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

One other thing: THANKS to the people who responded to my various threads giving me info on putting this thing back together. Also thanks to Pick 'O The Ricks, and RIC themselves for the information and parts I needed to get this thing back on the road.

Rickenbacker Rebirth Project [LOTS O PICS]

A month or so ago, a friend pointed out an Ebay auction to me. He and I are both fans of purchasing broken project-style guitars off Ebay and restoring them. The auction was for a 2005 620, body and neck only. It was being sold by the seller I refer to as The New Jersey Butcher, who parts out Ricks ...

RIC Boutique shipping

Ever ordered anything from the Boutique? What's your experience been like in terms of how long it takes them to ship?

Just wondering when I can expect my fancy RIC screws to arrive....

Re: Chris Clayton @ Pick of the Ricks

I am very impressed with Chris' turnaround. Ordered on Thursday afternoon, arrived in today's (Monday) mail.

I cannot say the same for other dealers....

Re: Which screws to buy?

Awesome. I think I'll probably just give RIC a call. This is awesome information though - keep it coming!

(Those 5200 screws add mass to the headstock, for extra hoodoo tone, right? It's just a bear to screw in that many self-tappers!)

Which screws to buy?

I'm working on my 620 and putting it back together. The guitar came to me completely naked without any screws.

I have tuners which came with screws already, but...I need screws for the pickups, the pickguard, and the jack plate.

I have figured out that the pickguard screws are 5201 and 5202, and ...

Re: Putting a Rick back together

Thanks, you guys! This is awesome information.

My guitar is in the Registry - it's 0579862. So yeah, it's the NJ Butcher. Where can I find the jackplate? That'd be the obvious choice - even if I have to pay through the nose for it. This guy must be making bank, if he can take a brand new guitar and ...

Putting a Rick back together

Okay, so I bought this 620 neck/body from a friend, who got it off Ebay - from one of the notorious Rick parter-outers. I plan to restore this guitar to playable status.

My friend is letting me test-drive some toasters along with this body, and I've purchased, so far:

- Schaller M6 mini tuners ...

Tell me about the sound of Rickenbackers

Allow myself to introduce...myself.

Hi, I'm Mark, and I just bought a 2005 620 from a friend. Of course, I need to put it together first. It is a neck, body, and pickups (toasters). Today, I purchased knobs, an upper and lower pickguard, and a toggle switch. I will be building my own wiring harness ...
