Re: Playing Your Top 10 Byrdsongs
I do "My Back Pages" in C w/ no capo. The lower key is good for a first set opener. It was "The Bells of Rhymney" that made me want to play a 12-string.

Re: My Regular Fiday
Forgot to mention; also do "He Was a Friend of Mine", but not very often. They liked it in Ireland, but JFK is practically a saint over in 'the ould sod'.

Re: Fret board width, 12 string.
I'm seriously thinking of having a new nut with wider spacing installed on my 360/12. That's my only complaint on an otherwise perfect guitar.

Re: Beverages and the voice
Fisherman's Friend or Riccola.
Or, better yet, 2 fingers of Th' Auld Quare, aka Bushmill's. I usually have a pint of Guinness nearby too.
The more Guinness, the better I sing.
The more you drink, the better I sound.
Really.

Re: My Regular Fiday
PS: The correct pronunciation of Rhymney is "Rummney", according to some Welsh folks I know. Although I often sing "Roomney"(rhymes w/ shook) when I'm pretending to be from Liverpool. I do a lot of Merseybeat songs as well, y'see.

My Regular Fiday
It's off-season up here now. Still doing my regular Friday set at the Sitzmark. There's a guy who tips well for Byrds' tunes and I need to decide on which one(s) to learn next.
Suggestions?

Re: Feel A Whole Lot Better
Thanks again, all. David does a version of "Eight Miles High" on an Ovation acoustic 12 that's nearly better than the original! The man's got some chops, so 'e does.

Re: Feel A Whole Lot Better
Thanks Karl. That's basically what I've been doing, using a D major figure at the A and E positions. It sounds pretty good with some delay, and at least, gets the idea of what RM did.

Feel A Whole Lot Better
Does anyone have, or know of, a good tab for the solo in this song? I've been doing it at gigs for a while now, and I can get a similar sound, but I'd like to do better.
Many thanks, Murph.

Re: New 9 String Acoustic Guitar
Check out some of The Byrdbrains vids on youtube. Iain has a custom-made 9-string. Don't know why he doesn't just use a Ric 12, but he says he likes that guitar.

Haven't looked all the way through this thread, so I don't know if they've already been mentioned. How's about The Liverbirds?
