4003 pickguard removal question

hello, and thanks for reading. i searched an found no help, hence the post. i'm trying to get to the toggle switch on my 4003 to clean and lubricate it. i just did so on my 360 and 381 without a hitch. however, on the 4003, i cannot remove the pickguard after loosening all the screws. it seems to be...

low-quality toggle switches on rics?

i wouldn't think so, but both my 360 and 381 aren't working on the neck pups. i flip the switches and hear scratchiness. none of my other guitars with toggles, gibson, carvin, heritage, has this issue. irritating, it is . . . tempted to change out the switches. anyone else experiencing this problem?...

Re: Best shop to order from - Environmental Concerns

i've purchased two rics from a certain shop in colorado and they both needed setups, post-purchase, which the certain shop provided hassle free. i've also purchased two rics from a certain shop in ky that were perfectly set up upon arrival in colorado and remain so. my two points are (1) the colorad...

Re: Are 360/12's hard to play?

hi, john. i got a 330/12 recently and initially had the same problems with playability. i have a telecaster 12-str that played better. my ric needed (and received) a setup which made a world of difference. my limited experience is that a ric can appear to be better set up than it really is. two of m...

neck pickup dead on 360 -- 2nd time

hey! i got my 360 about this time in 2010. the neck pickup went dead within a few months. my guitar tech bro gave the selector switch a hit of compressed air and the problem went away until recently. would it be advisable for me to give the switch a shot of contact cleaner? is removing the pickguard...

Re: Hello all! New Rickenbacker content.

So, it's okay for me to assume that the Janglebox is the go-to compressor for a Rick? Any difference between the Silver ones, and the black ones, obviously besides the silver Jangleboxes being made overseas? hi, patrick. it seems that, in the ric world, janglebox reigns supreme. the claim, as you s...

vox amp enlightment . . .

my recent purchase of a 330/12 piqued my curiousity and then interest in vox amps. an extended session of internet searching proved really enlightening as to why voxes have their unique sound. simple tone stack, no negative feedback, etc. whatever all that technobabble means . . . now, i want one! :...

Re: amp-with-ric question--undoubtedly asked before

I dunno, but IMHO, it's very hard to make a Fender sound like a Vox. Thanks, buddydog. That's the insight I was looking for. Thinking about having a small "Vox clone" custom built, now. Obviously, I have no experience with Vox amps. They sure get good ink from a lot of people. Regards, el...
