I've recently been in contact with the good doctor about my 370/12. We'll see where it leads.
My Rickenbacker could never replace my Martins .

Re: Roger Goes Cruisin'
This looks spur of the moment. How cool would that be? "Hi, I'm Roger. Mind if I sit in on a couple of tunes?"

Re: What's In Your Studio?
I record on a PC, using a Tascam interface and Cubase. I do everything in the box with software. I use a modded cheap ribbon mic and a homemade tube LDC. I recently ventured into MIDI and bought a keyboard, which has opened up a world of fun stuff. Now I can do anything from a simple penny whistle t...

Re: DADGAD
It was Garnet Rogers brother Stan that got me interested in DADGAD, and I've kept a Guild 12 string in that tuning for years. It's not for everything, but it has a very wonderful, distinct sound, especially on a 12 string.

Re: New Byrds cover - Goin' Back
Just discovered your site-way cool. I mess around doing covers myself, for my own amusement. It's a lot of fun. Pretty amazing what can be done with computers now, that would have cost thousands in equipment a few short years ago.

Re: Roger McGuinn on "John Sebastian Presents Folk Rewind"
I keep missing this thing, or coming in for the last ten minutes. I'd love to see the Kingston Trio footage, Chad Mitchell, etc. So little of this stuff is ever aired!

That's pretty cool, Tom. Interesting concept-"Byrdify" a song.

I never considered the magnetism factor. That's pretty interesting. Sounds like something I might want to try on my Gretsch.

Don't they rust? I've never seen iron wrapped strings.

Re: Your musical influences?
The Kingston Trio, and John Stewart in particular. Odd, since I was born six years after they broke up, but true none the less. Learned to play guitar and banjo from their records.
Makes you wonder how I ended up on a Rickenbacker forum, huh? I guess folk leads to folk-rock?

Put me in the camp of "don't abuse it, but PLAY IT!". It's a guitar-it'd be a shame to never let it do what it was built to do.
Beautiful guitar, BTW, and a heckuva deal.

Got a White Falcon last year, and have hardly played any other electric guitar since. They are a lovely instrument.

Re: Jim K. and Roger
I'm currently trying to master the fingerpick thing myself. I've played banjo since I was a kid, and I can't get any speed or make much sound on a five string without picks. I have a terrible time with them on guitar, however. I've tried to emulate Bob Gibson's finger picking on the acoustic 12 stri...

Re: Off Topic Gibson J-50
The Pure Western's are great. I like the fact that a preamp is not a must-have. They work very well in passive mode, they sound great, and they are relatively easy to install.
