Re: time for a fret job??

Thanks for the reply, I'm in Arizona, USA. My '81 4001 jet glow is very highly "Road worn" what I'm seeing is that a PROFESSIONAL restoration (fret replacement and refinishing) by a RIC specialist is really what is needed to restore this instrument to its former glory (and best value). So ...

Re: 4004 players - how often do you change your strings?

As frequently as possible, at least least every second or third rehersal/gig, Nothing sounds better (IMHO) than NEW strings,

Re: What strings and picks do you like to use with your Ric?

Lately Strings are D'Addario EXL 165
When I use pics they are either Dunlop Tortex 0.73mm or 0.60mm

Re: time for a fret job??

My '81 Jetglo is in serious need of re-fret (After 30 years now I've had to park it :( in that the fret board is beginning to take a beaten at the 3rd & 5th frets), any recommendations (west coast?) on where to send it to have it completed (professionally) re-done frets/finish would be appreciat...

Re: thinking of first bass - is fretless an option?

Welcome Kenneth,

I also recently (last month) purchased my first fretless after 40 years of playing only fretted instruments, and am also having a blast learning real intonation.

Re: Straw poll - gig them or not?

Recently purchased several mid & lower end bass guitars just for running around with. Some are quite nice and very playable like my early 80's Peavey w/maple fret board. I say let the Rics rest when at all possible :)

Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!

Put Dunlap Straploc(s) on my 3001 in 1977 when it was new and they are there still. 35 yrs later they work like new and with the same (quality) leather strap :D .
