There is a 4003/S5 on sale at Sam Ash in Lombard, IL. A friend told me. Not sure of the condition or price. I might be going out there today to check it out.

Here is the site for custom ear plugs...

http://store.yahoo.com/earplugstore/cusfitearmol1.html

The site has changed a bit since I used them last so you might have to search a bit.

Actually yes. The stage is quiet and since we have 4 monitor sends, each of us can have a personal mix. Seems like we have only been using two mixes, though. The downside is when people come up to ask for a request or to make an announcement we can't hear them without removing the ear plugs. BTW, we ...

I once had a moron blow up an old Peavey bass amp. He was Rick Saucedo's (Elvis impersonator) bass player and came in there with a very hot active bass (I do not do active) and fried the amp in his first set. That bar had live music from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM - two bands trading 1 hour sets. I was ...

Birthday question.....

My wife has decided to get me a bass for my birthday. I now exclusively play one of Jeff Rath's old 4003/s5. My question is whether to buy a new 4 string Ric or pick up a 5 stringer. I prefer 5 strings but a new 5 string Ric ain't gonna happen. What brands of 5 stringers do you guys like or should I ...

I used to mainly be a trombone player and have played with many very famous and infamous people. I consider some of them my friends. After a gig many years ago Bobby Shew (jazz trumpet - inventor of the Shew Horn) came up to me and said (jokingly, I hope?????) that a solo I played sucked. We both ...

Kevin, you married your drummer's sister? Big mistake. One of my guitarists and I married two of the other guitarists sisters. So we have brothers-in-laws and a drummer. One the other hand, we probably will be playing together for a long, long time (2006 is the band's 25th anniversary).

Nate ...

Bassmith is a great program. I use it to mainly tweak what the pedals do on the floorboard. I have 2 PODxt Pros and a Bass PODxt Pro. They are fantastic live and perfect for recording. The xt versions blow the older version away. I still prefer the xt Pro version with the shortboard for live stuff.

It's a Thompson. I am tempted but it is pricey. They had some minor problems with it and had to send it in for repairs. The day I played it, Carl called the studio to see if everything was OK.
