New 4003S Inbound

Have not owned a Rickenbacker bass since the early '80s. Got a very good trade offer from Dave's on a guitar that I have not played in nearly a year, and
decided to leverage it into a new 4003S in Mapleglo. Pics/report when it arrives.

Re: No More Ruby!

UPS just dropped off my Ruby 660-12. S/N begins with 1827-not an NOS piece. 30 months after discontinuing the color. There may be a few more in the pipeline yet.

Re: No More Ruby!

I guess there were still Rubies on order. Dave's guitar got a bunch of 660-12s late last week and there was a new Ruby. I snapped it up. Yay for me.

Re: 4003 Blackbird?

Pretty cool. Probably limited to 25 though. I dunno- If you read the comments in the FB post from yesterday, The following comment was made. "If you make a 330/6 in this color scheme, I'm in! Beauty!" To which Rickenbacker Guitars (Official) replied- "Watch this space then ;)" I...

Re: Boss Compression Sustainer SC-3 pedal

I have never tried a Janglebox but I highly recommend the Xotic SP compressor. I have the Boss as well and the Xotic is far superior. It also has a tiny footprint.

Wow.
I thought the thread title was a late April fool's joke! "There can't be a lefty 370-12 with toasters in Ruby anywhere!"
Congrats!

Cool that they are, though. The guitar is a real beauty.
I am surprised that more dealers don't order guitars this way-I am not sure if even the dealers are aware of the option.

Re: Are Most First Rics Bought 12 String Models?

My first was a Bass. Then I sold it. A few years later I got a 330-12, and then added a 360-6 before selling both of them.
Now I'm back and looking to replace the 12 String and the Bass but not necessarily the 6 string.
I'm a weird example because I play both bass and guitar and bounce back and forth.

Re: Classic Albums: Damn The Torpedoes DVD

I have watched this a few times, not only for the Rickenbacker content but also for the segment where Tom, Mike, and Jimmy Iovine sit behind the console and walk thru guitar tracking for Refugee and Here Comes My Girl. I can't get enough of that kind of stuff. The whole Classic Albums DVD series is ...

Re: Fingernails and Bass Playing?

I keep my index and middle fingernails on my right hand a bit longer than the others. They have really toughened up over time.
I use the index finger to kind of strum the bass up and down.
I also use these nails for fingerpicking acoustic and for grabbing the odd note on electric.

I'll bet Danny Bonaduce blows him away. Watch Danny sometime-the notes ascend as his hand moves down the neck. Still trying to figure out how he does that.

Re: Need Help!

The two 660 players that come to mind are Steve Van Zandt (660-12 Jetglo) and Mary Chapin Carpenter (660-12 BBR).
Of course Tom Petty's signature model was the Precursor to the 660 although he doesn't seem to use it much live lately.
