So, at the risk of rehashing a conversation that might have already happened a million times (I wasn't able to narrow down on this in the archive)... what's the basic TONE difference between the V63 horseshoe and the 4003 hi-gain? I have the 4001v63 myself, and agree it practically doesn't need to ...

I've tried to listen carefully on a few occassions, comparing the bass tone of Red Barchetta and Camera Eye and *think* I can tell the difference with those tunes the rest of the songs, the Jazz having slightly less definition (flabby?) but overall the overdriven sort of quality to the tones are ...

125K? Ah yes, sorry, sometimes I forget I have much better hearing than most humans.
Yup, meant 125 Hz... 100 to 200Hz seems like the "boomy" range so I tend to dial things down in that area.

I used a Sansamp Bass Driver DI for a while running into a Boss SE-70 for some additional processing. To get closer to the Geddy/Squire kinds of sounds I found you really had to boost 1.25 kHz and scoop out around 125K to have the bass "cut" more and reduce boominess. I also used the SE-70 to add ...

That's what makes their new album "Present" kind of a startling experience. After not being together for 30 years it's as if they were just continuing where they left off... Peter Hammill's biting (and sometimes screaming) vocals don't seem to have aged a bit, still got that crawling organ, flutes ...

I'm envious of you folks who saw Tull perform in the 70s, still waiting for a concert DVD from that era. I was born the same year Thick as a Brick came out, thus I didn't catch up with them until the album Rock Island, and I've seen them about 5 times since.

Would it be just a concert/series of concerts, or would they also try to create some new music? I'd be happy if just the concert happened but would be fascinated with what they could come up with if they went into the studio and worked on some new material, picking up on their art rock origins as ...

Godins are fantastic... not only great values, but I find I'm not a fan of most conventional guitar body styles and they are really elegant looking. I used to have an LGX-SA when I was into the guitar synth thing and regretfully sold it, but I love the Exit 22... love the satin finish and natural ...
