C58 Vibrola

Should the Vibrola assemblage on a C58 "float" freely above the top of the guitar? Or is it okay for the springs to come into contact with the wood?

C58 Question

Okay, I've had my C58 since last fall and I'm a big idiot. I know that the tone controls are "reversed wired," etc.--but when I flip the toggle switch I can't detect any difference between the middle position and the up position. In either position both the middle and neck pup are engaged. No amount ...

Any word on when these are about due to ship?

The difference between my V59 and the C58 was night and day. I'm curious to see how different the C64 is from the V63.

Yes--where the firglow stops and the white begins. For most of the guitar it's smooth, but there are areas around the "horns" where it is not smooth--as if the binding had shrunk.

Carl Wilson Binding

When I run my hand along the side of my Carl Wilson 360, there are places where the binding is not entirely flush with the body. Is the binding shrinking in these areas? Is this something common in Rics and not a sign that something is wrong with the guitar?

I have Ric 360/12 that needs very minor fret work. One of the frets {the 18th} appears too low--or the two frets on either side of it need to be crowned/dressed {it was never done at the factory}. I didn't notice it until my repair guy pointed it out--I never play that high up on a 12 string. He ...
