Jeffrey, can't make it out in May. I'd love to see a bunch of 4005s all in the same room someday though. What a sight that would be.

Sorry to hear you can't make it, oh well.

Chris,
I'd have to add two strings and get a can of Krylon Fireglo spray paint.

Or just breath Firebreathglo on it!

Chris, the trouble with the old rests being hand drilled are that the holes are not usually uniform on each bass. There is always a (good) chance that the holes will not line up with the ones on your pickguard.
Jared, how much did Jim charge you for the meter...

Yeah, I was wondering that, too! Does he sell different brands of meters or do they come with the horseshoe pickup? Image

Andrew,
True on the way a fingergrip may or may not exactly fit a Rick that was factory drilled for one.I don't know how far back Rick actually stopped making the grips, but assuming they were all made in the day when stuff was done by hand and eye on a std. drill press, there is the chance that the screw spacing from one to the next grip is not exactly "on the money" perfect spaced measurements.Say the spacing is supposed to be 1-1/8" between screws, on dead center. If you get a different grip that is off by 1/32" or 1/16",well, its Not going to fit without at least a little messing around. If you're aftermarket fitting one on a bass that never had one to begin with, these rules don't apply. If Rick decides to ever put these grips out again, you can bet the material will be done on CNC, and All the pieces Will get made to an exacting tolerance.
Only John Hall knows what intentions they may or may not have regarding this one.John, care to comment?

Jim Rhoads is a great guy but I didn't get the upright bass from him- it came from George Gruhn in Nashville.

I have probably 50 of the original ones in stock still: why do I need more?

Is that a Craftsman pillow in the photo?
