Not that I know of Sheena in terms of Love Affair and Searchers.

I have never heard of Green Day still in a time warp

Love Affair/Searchers: They both had a "Jackson" on bass guitar! The LA one was a Mick! I've checked with my priate library.

If you've seen the movie 'The Spy Who Shagged Me' or listened to the sound track, you've heard Green Day, Roy. An instrumental track called 'Espionage' is a heap of fun to play and would IMO be a good opener for a lot of gigs.

Gonna go and play some Fogerty now, before I head off to the office.......

Ahummm... i think i had been mislead by somethin' in the topic called "Johnny Blunt update"...
Roy: oh... i'm sorry... i thought you had... your personal quote sounds very much like a quote from one of their songs...
Still, the thing is there's an 'indirect' quote from one of the Searchers' songs in one of Green Day tunes. 'Indirect' means 'a bit modified' but still recognizable. The album on which the track appears is called 'Nimrod'. I've given as many hints as i can...

Wouldn't say I'm much of a fan Sheena but I try to keep up with some of the stuff my son is into (don't want to appear to be an old fuddy duddy!!).

I'm finding it harder everyday to keep up - constantly being sucked back to the 60s 70s and 80s!. I must get hold of more of their stuff and have a more open-minded ear, as it were!

Any suggestions as to what to look (listen) out for?

Well... i'm not so much into modern music, Howard... apart from GreenDay, who were once my kid's favourite band.
Anyway... did anybody find two more connections with the Ramones and one with Breadney Spheres?

1. I do believe you Peter but i meant the other thing.
2. That was already mentioned by Einar. (truthfully speaking, i prefer the Ramones' version... but not on this forum...)
I mean two other connections. One is quite 'formal' and refers to late 70s - early 80s period. The other deals with records material, like: The Searchers did it thrice, the Ramones did it only once. For the Searchers it was the three first, while for the Ramones it was the last but one.

The Searchers were signed to SIRE Records after label boss Seymour Stein heard The Ramones' version of "Needles And Pins". So both groups were on SIRE during the period in question.
