If you happen to have the "Mighty wind" DVD....goto special features and then to TV appearences......there is a video (unused in the film) that is on there where the folksmen are using 2 ricks........from there album "Singing Something"

Michael McKean on a 345JG, Christopher Guest with a 360/12FG! Not sure of Harry Shearer's bass viol, probably a Kay.

No. Yes. Well yes and no. While "The Folksmen" are a creation of Christopher Guest's fertile imagination, these guys actually DO play their own instruments. And quite well, too! And yes, not only did they once open for "Spinal Tap", they WERE "Spinal Tap"!
