I use an Ampeg 4x10 on top and a 1x15 on the bottom. My amp is a 100w Ampeg V-4BH. I like the combination of speakers. I haven't ever tried the 1x15 on top, though. Might be interested in what that would sound like.... I have no qualms with my current live sound, though!

Chris, what year is your V-4B? Mine is a 1996 Reissue. I love it!

Great, that is a nice amp from what I have read. I don't think there are a lot of the originals (like yours) still out there doing bass duty, but I could be wrong.

You can't go wrong with an Ampeg 810. Accept no substitute! Most other brands have ported cabinets, which totally changes the original (4) SEALED 2x10 cabs in one box design. Having said that, I've got my late 70s 810 in semi-retirement now. I first went with a 410 cab + 215 cab setup, but found that loading and stacking two cabs was more of a pain than just the one big cabinet. Someone mentioned putting the 15 cab on top, which is what I ended up doing. I like 15s more for their tone than as a low end enhancer.
I eventually built a 210/115 hybrid cabinet that I like very much. Here's a pic and a link to my gear page. http://www.tomthebassplayer.com/equipment.htm
Someone else mentioned the V-4B. Great amp! My fav for recording. I've got a '74.

I had a V4-B years ago, was a nice little amp, SVT's record really well too, especially through B-15 cabs, real punchy sounding.
