Those have to be microtuners for the main tuners, right! It's against the law to have more than 5 strings on a bass! {:^)

it's against the law to have more than 4! I do like that 8 string although it would sit in my room for the rest of it's life with me.

I would love to try an 8 string bass, if I could find one to get my hands on.

What I've learned from my 660/12 guitar is you'd better be building up your callouses for those extra strings... I suspect an 8 would be similar, if not even more callous-inducing. Might sound good on some songs....

I thought it would be a novelty myself but it's my #2 Ric (the LK has it beat). I run a slightly overdriven tone in my band, which is a three piece, and it's thick sound comes in handy for filling out the band. It certainly sounds huge.

I can attest to the need to build up finger strength and hearty callouses. It is like having a horrible run in with a cheese grater if you are an aggressive player......I do love it though !

OK ... I have been playing it for a few hours ... I had to do a truss rod and bridge setup ...the octave strings were too close on the B and E strings so I had to recut the saddles ... I restrung it with 8 new strings ... I kept 2 old ones ... I have developed a few playing techniques to take advantage of the 10 strings ... with a pick it sounds like a prehistoric demented 12 string guitar played through an octaviator ... with finger plucking it has a different sound ... kinda interesting dual note thing ... then with the typwriter whacking method I can get just the fundamental note and mute the octave ... so it sounds just like a dean 5 string bass ...

as per the quality of the bass ... the neck doesn't seem to flatten out ... but it gets flat enough for low action and fast playing ... you can tell it is not made in the USA ... the strings don't seem to line up with the pole pieces of the pickups ... and they are nice fat pole pieces ... the active electronics sound pretty good but if the battery goes dead or is removed the bass goes dead ... no output at all ... the tuners were all loose on the headstock ...

I'd love to try a 10 string; I loved my 8 and hope to get another someday. In many ways an 8 is the real sound I hear in my head; at least when I'm not taking the tablets...

I had the pleasure of playing Jeff's 10-string today, being a 12-string player, it didn't seem strange to me at all, and the B string with the octave was very cool. He did a nice setup on it and it has some nice growl! I'd take it off his hands!!
